YOUR DESTINATION: RWANDA

One of today’s greatest development success stories, Rwanda is Africa’s prime study abroad jewel. The country underwent a breathtaking transformation since the 1994 genocide. A model for poverty reduction and economic growth, it accounts for the highest percentage of women in parliament anywhere in the world. And the streets of its modern green capital Kigali are clean, safe, and free of corruption.

From tech incubators to artisan cooperatives, students gain hands-on insight into Rwanda’s vibrant landscape of innovation and inclusive business.

Direct collaboration with local entrepreneurs
Students work with mission-driven startups and social enterprises tackling challenges in agriculture, education, climate, health, and more - co-creating solutions grounded in community needs.
Cultural exploration and community connections
Beyond the classroom, students explore Rwandan life through shared meals, storytelling, language learning, and site visits to memorials and community organizations - deepening their understanding of the country’s history, values, and resilience.

Weekend journeys with purpose
Optional trips to Lake Kivu, Nyungwe Forest, or Akagera National Park offer rest, exploration, and ecological context to the broader impact work.
