GEI’s Global Health track is offered through a small number of structured program formats, each available in multiple destinations. Choose the format that fits your goals, then explore where you can study.

GLOBAL FIELD ENGAGEMENT

3 weeks - 4 credits

An intensive introduction to global health focused on health systems, equity, and community-based learning. Students engage in site visits, guest lectures, and guided reflection to build foundational global health competencies.

GLOBAL PRACTICUM

4 weeks - 4 credits

A focused, applied program designed for students seeking deeper engagement with global health practice. The practicum emphasizes contextual learning, professional exposure, and critical reflection.

SUMMER

8 weeks - 8 credits

A combined academic experience bringing together field engagement and practicum-style learning. Ideal for students seeking sustained immersion and academic momentum over the summer.

SEMESTER

15 weeks - 16 credits

A full-semester program offering in-depth academic study, experiential learning, and sustained engagement with global health themes in diverse contexts.

What is Global Health at GEI?

GEI’s Global Health track examines health challenges through social, cultural, political, and systems-based lenses. Rather than focusing on isolated interventions, programs emphasize understanding how health outcomes are shaped by context, policy, and lived experience.

Learning takes place through ethically grounded engagement with local professionals, organizations, and institutions. Students are encouraged to approach global health as a field rooted in partnership, humility, and critical reflection.
